De Gea feels disappointed by Enrique’s decision.

Since coach Luis Enrique took charge of the Spain team, the position of number one goalkeeper has often belonged to Simon. This season, De Gea has been in good form and is carrying the problem of Man Utd’s defence, however, he is still not trusted.

Spain’s AS news agency said the goalkeeper was upset with the head coach’s decision, although Enrique had an explanation. Accordingly, De Gea feels unconvinced that Enrique wants to test younger goalkeepers in international friendlies.

The report also states that De Gea will not return to the national team whether he is started or played as a substitute, thereby ending his dream of attending the 2022 World Cup.  Enrique wants to keep his conversations with De Gea private but insists decided he had ‘no problem’ if the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper decided to openly discuss it.

“What we say is still private. If he wants to make it public, that’s fine. You’ll see it in the following focus list,” Enrique said.

Spain won both friendlies in this round of gatherings, as Dani Olmo scored a late winner in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Albania, before they eased past Iceland with a scoreline. 5-0 at Coruna.
