VILLANOVA, Pa.—As she embarks on her first season as head coach of the Villanova women’s lacrosse program, Jill Batcheller has been named the Mid-Atlantic Region Coach of the Year by the IWLCA for her successful 2021 season while leading Drexel to a top-10 national ranking and the first NCAA berth in program history. The IWLCA named its 2021 National and Regional Coaches of the Year in Division I on Monday afternoon. All winners will be honored at the IWLCA Convention scheduled for November 17-19, 2021 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas.
Batcheller was announced as the eighth head coach of the Wildcats on June 26 after a national search that attracted many highly qualified candidates. She spent the previous three seasons (2019-21) at Drexel where she compiled a 24-15 overall record, including a breakthrough campaign this spring. Drexel finished with a 13-3 overall record and won the CAA regular season title. Batcheller was named the CAA Coach of the Year and led the Dragons to the conference championship game as well as an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
