Sources say it is likely the deal will be signed before the transfer deadline on Monday.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson, 24, wants to leave Old Trafford after failing to compete for the starting spot with David de Gea this season. Newcastle have long been interested in the England international and are currently pushing for a move.
Martin Dubravka, Newcastle’s number 1 goalkeeper has been injured and did not play in the friendly match between Thich Chieu and Saudi Arabia on Friday night.
If Henderson arrives, of course Jesse Lingard will not be able to land at Newcastle, as clubs cannot send two players on loan to the same team.
A few months ago, Henderson spoke with his ex Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as well as interim manager Ralf Rangnick, but was told that Man Utd still needed him for the Champions League campaign. However, after Henderson said he wanted more playing opportunities, Rangnick turned it down and the Red Devils are negotiating to push Henderson on loan.
If successful, this will continue to be another quality rookie of Newcastle. Before that, they had Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon for £ 33 million. Dan Burn is also on his way to St James’ Park from Brighton in a £13m deal.
