VILLANOVA, Pa.—As the start of the Fall competition season approaches Villanova rowing head coach Carissa Adams has completed her coaching staff for the 2021-22 season with the addition of Mary Mosier as an assistant coach. Mosier holds a US Rowing Level II Coaching Certification and was most recently the assistant rowing coach and the head novice coach for the Shipley School. She is a former collegiate rower at Jacksonville University and has competed locally for the Penn A.C. Rowing Association.
Mosier began coaching at the Shipley School in 2019 and during her time there helped the Girls’ Novice Double boat win a Philadelphia city championship in 2021. She also coached at Penn A.C. and was an assistant coach for the Under 23 Team. At the USRowing Summer National Championships earlier this year the Under 23 team medaled in five boat classes, including a gold medal in the Men’s Quad. Mosier also helped the Women’s U23 Double finish first at the National Team Trials and go on to represent the United States at the 2021 FISA Under 23 World Championship.
During her racing career Mosier experienced success first as a Division I varsity student-athlete at Jacksonville from 2009-13 and later as a member of the High Performance Team at Penn A.C. She won a title in the Elite Lightweight 1x competition in 2017 at the US Rowing National Championship and was part of three other top-three finishes at the US Rowing championships, including second in both the Senior Lightweight 2x (2015) and the Elite Lightweight 2x (2018) as well as third in the Elite Lightweight 1x in 2018. Mosier finished second in the Lightweight 4+ at the Head of the Charles in 2018.
Mosier earned her B.S. in Exercise Science with minors in History and Coaching from Jacksonville University.
