Tottenham fans have once again criticized the club on social media after they failed to sign youngster Ollie Tanner.

Spurs have recently been in talks with Tanner, who plays for semi-professional club Lewes. The 19-year-old winger is also attracting interest from Southampton, Cardiff and Luton, Brighton. Now, Tottenham have been left out in the race to pursue Tanner, with Lewes announcing that talks between their youngster and the London side have broken down over personal terms.

Tanner refused to go to Tottenham.

Their statement read: “Lewes Football Club would like to confirm that while the Premier League club and club have agreed a basic agreement for the transfer of Ollie Tanner, Ollie and the Premier club was ultimately unable to agree on personal terms and he remained a Lewes FC Player.”

While the move won’t worry Antonio Conte much, Tanner’s rejection is a sad detail for the poor January market for Spurs, where they lost Adama Traore and Luis Diaz to Barcelona and Liverpool.

Following the news, Spurs fans took to Twitter to talk about their humiliating transfers.

One person wrote: ” We are being rejected by semi-pro players.”

Another said: ” You know things get really bad when Spurs are rejected by non-league players. Now this is no longer a joke.”

A third exclaimed: ” How can we be turned down by a player who doesn’t play in the Football League. This club is such a joke.”
