PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA. – The Villanova Wildcats (12-7, 0-5 BIG EAST) dropped game two of the weekend series with Seton Hall (12-13, 4-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 13-2.

Following a Friday night pitcher’s duel that saw ten hits split evenly and one run cross the plate, the Seton Hall offense erupted early. The Pirates plated six runs in the top of the second inning knocking five singles and one extra base hit. The early deficit was enough to hold the Wildcats at bay for the remainder of the game.

In the bottom of the third, the Wildcats capitalized on three consecutive walks as Nick Lorusso (Monroe, Conn.) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to get Villanova on the board. In the next inning, Villanova executed with two outs as Dylan McNary laced a single into right center and then advanced to second on a balk. Will Reiner (Madison, Conn.) ripped a double into left center plating McNary for the final Villanova run.

On the mound, Cameron Mathes (Broomall, Pa.) and Patrick Montfort (Morristown, N.J.) closed out the final two innings. Mathes made his ninth appearance this season and struck out one in 2/3 inning. Montfort worked around a hit and two walks and did not allow any runs.

The conference foes will wrap up the series on Sunday, April 18 at Villanova Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 ET. Be sure to follow @VUBaseball on Twitter and @villanovabaseball on Instagram for updates throughout the season.
