OMAHA, Neb. – The Villanova Wildcats concluded a three game weekend series with the Creighton Bluejays on Sunday afternoon, where they lost by a score of 8-0. With the loss, Villanova drops to 12-5 overall and 0-3 in BIG EAST play, while Creighton improves to 9-7 overall and 3-0 in league action.

Creighton capitalized early in the first inning plating three runs on two hits. Following two quick outs, the Bluejays hit a single and earned two walks to load the bases before Parker Upton tripled to right center clearing the bases. The Bluejays added two more runs in the second and third frames respectively to extend their lead to seven through three innings.

The Wildcats best scoring opportunity came in the fourth inning after Nick Lorusso (Monroe, Conn.) led off with a single into left field. Following two consecutive outs, Lucas Latrenta (Greenwich, Conn.) singled into center field to put runners at first and second. The runners would advance 90-feet following a wild pitch, but the Bluejays pitcher would leave them on the bases as he got a strikeout to end the inning.

Tyler Arella (East Northport, N.Y.) started on the mound for the Wildcats and went three innings, allowing seven runs on six hits, while striking out two. Danny Wilkinson (Scotch Plains, N.J.) threw two clean innings in relief while picking up three strikeouts. Villanova managed just three hits in the loss with Chris Rotondo (Redding, Conn.), Nick Lorusso, and Lucas Latrenta getting a hit apiece.

Creighton tallied nine hits on the afternoon with Sterling Hayes leading the charge with three hits. Cade Lommel earned the win for Creighton, pitching four innings and allowing two hits and striking out six.

The Wildcats will return to the diamond on Friday, April 16 when they host Seton Hall at Villanova Ballpark for a four-game weekend series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 ET. Be sure to follow @VUBaseball on Twitter and @VillanovaBaseball on Instagram for updates throughout the season.
